Maybe a little educational push from your team about postage

If you require an absentee ballot you must FIRST be registered with your city/town. 2-step process. 1) register online to vote 2) ONCE your city/town has u registered THEN u can request absentee ballot online. Check deadlines for your city/town by calling clerks office.

In CA you can request when you register. Always request absentee. You can still go to the polls (take your ballot with you). But mail is so easy. And they DO count them.
