Riiiiight. That's why the gun nuts bring up a reason or example to use their gun at the drop of a hat, usually as a veiled threat like "come on my property and I'll introduce you to my gun" or similar.

It's small percentage that don't who are problem/danger. Open carry is a power play. It gives some people a false sense of security, but really creates threatening environment where anyone can start shooting. Most people I know own a gun, but prefer to keep it in safe place.
