You know SF is in the lowest 20% of cities for violent crime in the US, right? I mean I'm not excusing it and there's plenty we can and should do, but let's have a little context.

Really? Two drug killings/day extrapolated per capita to the country would be about 250k/dead every year almost another
#COVID19. But I guess those deaths don't count as violent? And from what year is your 20% stat...? Things collapsed last year@chesaboudin was quick to destroy3 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

2020. Drug overdose deaths are not violent crimes and increased 31% YoY nationally from 2019 to 2020, and they increased 36% YoY in San Francisco—marginally worse than the rest of the country, mostly due to the increased prevalence of fentanyl in SF vs a couple years ago.

Fentanyl had been more prevalent in rural areas but started rising rapidly in urban areas 2 years ago. Last year was a 70% increase over 2018–obviously unrelated to the current DA. Overdoses are very concerning, but SF is far from unique.

Doesn't excuse @chesaboudin - the goal should be to do better and there is a way he needs to help get fentanyl off the streets
