We're using empirical evidence and meticulous data gathering to promote public safety.
That's not a standard that anyone has ever held the so called 'tough on drug' policies to.

Did they give you an award for most damage ever done in a single year? It’s truly remarkable how many ODs, burglaries, etc. have increased because of your policies. I’ve never seen one single politician hated by so much of the population.

@realDonaldTrump is more hated in SF but@chesaboudin and@MattHaneySF definitely did more damage! They are killing ~2 people/dayhttps://twitter.com/davidgobaud/status/1344146221154279425 …David Gobaud added,
David Gobaud @davidgobaudReplying to @davidgobaud @MattHaneySF and 2 othersThe 700 drug killings is 100% policy failure from you and@chesaboudin - 10 years ago I supported not prosecuting street level dealers because the societal harm from jail was greater but fentanyl changed the game count the bodies + listen to @MyTwolffamily https://twitter.com/MyTwolffamily/status/1336381412610469888 …1 reply 1 retweet 7 likes -

Do you genuinely believe imprisoning low level drug dealers has any effect on drug usage? We’ve been fighting the War on Drugs for the past 40 years & drug addiction has become even more of an issue.

yes it would save lives in SF today. no it would not solve the problem. yes it is the right thing to do today given 2/day are being killed. the balance of harm from jail changed with fentanyl - just look at the numbers!

Do you have any evidence to prove it would save lives? If imprisoning low level drug dealers is effective, why hasn’t the War on Drugs in the past 40 years significantly declined drug usage/overdoses?

What policies have made it easier to get drugs? You’re also disregarding the fact that these tough on drug policies you’re proposing have been enforced for the past several decades with no success.
