Prices. Borders. Crime. Some don't want to talk about them. But voters will vote on them in 2022.

"Loss is a magical preservative. Time stops at the point of severance, and no subsequent impressions muddy the picture you have in your mind. The house, the garden, the country you have lost remain forever as you remember them." - Eva Hoffman, Lost in Translation

Only one out of 2,200 state troopers actually quit over the vaccine mandate in Massachusetts so far. Not even dozens, just one guy.

"Only one side is 'to blame' for the crisis: those willing to reelect a corrupt and authoritarian president, even by disenfranchising legal voters if that’s the only way to do it." -- :

Home-price growth climbed to a new record in July, as buyers continued to compete fiercely amid a shortage of homes for sale. The Case-Shiller index rose 19.7% in the year that ended in July, the fourth consecutive month of record price appreciation

Latest in For all the attention on how Trump might try to steal the 2024 elections in swing states - if prices/border/crime issues are not addressed pronto, the twice-impeached ex-president could well win without cheating

How's the mass campaign of civil disobedience against vaccination mandates going? Out of 76,000 employees, New York's Northwell healthcare group this week fired an estimated two dozen managers for vaccine refusal. Company vax rate is now 100%.

This story is a perfect example of how not to cover COVID mandates: 1) Vague, indefinite predictions 2) Unreliable sourcing 3) No sense of scale or denominator 4) Culminating in that sole source later in the same story admitting he's just gassing

Massachusetts employs more than 1,800 uniformed state troopers. If 20 or 30 of them do resign over vaccine mandates - well, that's one way to identify the officers least committed to protecting public safety.

The debt ceiling debate works the same way. Thus the proposition "Republicans threaten to default on US government obligations and capsize the global economy worse than in 1931" becomes "In an annual ritual, Democrats and Republicans argue over an obscure budget provision"

One of Trump's superpowers was that he understood on some deep level that one scandal can be covered as an abnormality, but dozens of scandals simply can't. Make the scandalous a daily familiarity - and then *whatever* reporters say, the tedium of repetition will dull outrage
