So, as of yesterday, I have a new job! I'm with . The ideas in the linked post were a huge part of what got me on board. I want to bring the LAN of old back into the modern world, and return to a simpler model for writing software.

I wrote this several months ago when trying to articulate our early ideas at Tailscale. Does it help explain what we are working on?

Copying files between two computers physically right next to each other, but I have to upload to a remote server and share a link. How did we break things to the point where computers can't just talk to each other any more?

I have spent some 15 years googling bash string manipulation syntax. Not a chance I can remember it. On the other hand, maybe I can with fish: for F in (ls) set N (string replace -r "^Mister Rogers' Neighborhood - " "" ) mv end
