2. Alternate headline: “Does Having a Day Job Mean New York Times Journalists do Better Journalism?” In this case it may actually do the editors some good to work 40 hours a week in a Newburgh NY Walmart. Really starving on starvation wages for art might not be so romantic.
3. This false conceit of this article is that the norm is the artist that has too much time on their hands and gets hung up in “the process.” There are likely to be some, but they are the outliers. In 35 years of playing/producing music I’ve perhaps met one.
4. In 35 years I’ve never seen a recording artist that didn’t make a record (overall) better than the demos. $ = time for most people. Unless you’re like incredibly wealth already. I’m amused that there is still this educated elite that equates money with inauthentic art.
