David stop being so naughty. We'd have you on in a second but you never do broadcast.
-
I will do the occasional podcast, as I do for the FT. But not radio/TV. DM me.

Fun fact - Russian influence networks are pushing *really* hard on David Davis story. On the whole Boris Johnson story actually. *All* of their "trending topics" are about the UK right now (Tuesday 12am UK time.) I wonder why. http://dashboard.securingdemocracy.org/

“deeper British problem of valuing have-a-go male arrogance over technical expertise and research”. Yep - a big factor in perpetuating inequalities. Seen it over & over, and been victim to it multiple times.

My favourite quote sums up brexit & all populism: “He is the lightning rod for Brexiter discord on the backbenches, where they can live out their permanent fantasies about how they would have done things so much better without ever having to actually explain how they might do so”

Yes, great piece and these are the things which should have been put to David Davis on the radio this morning...
-
Yup, the Humphrey’s interview this morning was an absolute disgrace. No wonder the public is so uninformed about Brexit when the proper questions still aren’t being asked even in circumstances like today.
-
It was Humphrys interviewing Humphrys with the usual lack of objectivity except his own grandstanding - the BBC which operates with our licence fee money should review this guy’s interviewing (non)skills

An excellent article by Ian. We should share this widely. Sums up how so many in the Tory government and leavers in general still have no idea what the EU does or how we benefit so massively from being in both the single market and in the customs union

I met Davis at Conference 2000. It was clear to me even then that he was hopeless.
-
Even Cameron thought he was a tosser and would not have him in his cabinet.

Skewered. What I find so hard to understand is that he spent 17 years working at Tate+Lyle, apparently gaining enough experience to write a book on the topic of turning a company around. What made him fail so badly here?
-
I’m just wondering how hard selling sugar is seeing as the vast majority love it so much. Although isn’t sugar linked to Brexit?
-
Yep Tate+Lyle want Brexit to drop tarriffs on their (imported) cane sugar. British Sugar (Silver Spoon) use sugar beet from British farms.

Don’t forget the assessment reports and the arrogant sneer when admitting they didn’t exist ...
-
My particular favourite moment was
#DavidDavis in front of@hilarybennmp blithely agreeing huge tariffs were likely on agricultural products and that there was no need for a hard@BorderIrish between two agricultural economies
