    Hoping to be more competent next year: this afternoon I dropped my keys in the river & spent half an hour searching waist-deep in flowing water. Home now (after using the neighbours' spare keys) & have drunk about a gallon of hot chocolate!

    New 2020 projects will see lots of time at sea, from Ireland to Newfoundland, in traditional boats. But also in my tiny (1.4kg!) Alpacka Scout. Spending some of Christmas getting used to a second skin of fabric, not carbon fibre, between the swell & me. (Photos H.Gill/P.Woebler)

    Just got some very lovely linocuts in the post from (thankyou!!!). Since they sum up lots of what I want my sea-themed room to be - coast, mountains, music, art, whisky, warmth & books - I thought they'd make excellent symbols of welcome on the door...
