    The take that Obama would have been more popular had he put his name on checks, a la Trump, isn’t super convincing. The story would have been egomaniac Obungler handing out voter bribes as recession continued. (“Stimulus should have been bigger” is a different discussion.)

        Or that Obama got psyched out of taking credit. I'm just unconvinced that "checks with Obama's name on them go out as unemployment stays at 9%" would have changed the game.

        You’re probably right about the coverage element. What I was mainly getting at, though, was how often I’d talk to a stimulus recipient (grants, loans, etc… not just checks/deposits) who had no clue that they’d gotten stimulus money.

        I have to imagine Obama would have benefited from more people knowing he’d helped their business survive or gotten them a job again, etc… That said, Obama ended up winning re-election
