That’s the only 2020 scenario (Sanders fading as the field shrinks) in which the superdelegates could *try* to give away the nom. But in that scenario, the savior would have to be a Dem who began beating Sanders after Super Tuesday, not, like, Mark Warner. 2/2

Anyway, the die was cast when Biden ran. Weak "establishment" candidate versus strong factional candidate equals fun fun fun. Turning the guns on Warren in October was always going to risk this scenario, though tbf had Warren withstood the pressure she'd be winning rn.

Yes, Sanders’s scenario was premised on him beating Clinton in CA and making Dems think “man, she’s tanking, what do we do?"

Dave, do you think the dems understand that if they rip it away from a clearly leading bernie they’ll be heading into this election and maybe future ones also without a significant portion of his enthusiastic supporters? Seems to play into the “electability” equation.

Sanders telling voters from certain states (southern, early) that their votes should count less because they were insufficiently informed was the most charming part of his 2016 campaign.

Do you have a source for this?
