I don't think it's that sophisticated. There are countries where they'd be in the same party. There are many more where they would likely be in a coalition. Given his views on issues from industry regulation to immigration, Biden would likely NOT be in a conservative party.

We might find his healthcare plan to be insufficient, but Biden is planning to vasty expand the public role and regulate the private market. This is not a conservative position. It might not be far left. But it's not conservative.

I'd go further and say in most countries (like the UK, much of Europe, and even in Brazil) the mainstream conservative party would never say "universal healthcare costs too much" - for that kind of a comment you would have to go to like a hard free market / libertarian party

Unfortunately that is changing now thanks to western and russian oligarch money via Brexit and thinktank fuckery in the UK.

I have a minor gripe with your analysis, Dave. I'm Canadian, and AOC would absolutely be NDP. Biden, on the other hand, would be a hard right Conservative. It's not even close.

It’s a big tent. The Democratic Party is currently a refuge for anyone who believes in the rule of law, government by the people for the people, and rational discourse on topics that effect us. The Republican Party is currently a cult.

As AOC says in that article, "Democrats can be too big of a tent.”
