First panel here is about how anything less than replacing the US health care system w single payer will fail. Here’s the case against the public option, which now even centrist Dems backpic.twitter.com/5yoQRPXoGf

There is a very substantive panel underway about how to transition to single payer, but I must point out the hilarity of what just happened. In a quiet, dark theater, someone's phone went off. As usual, people turned to see whose phone it was. It was Bernie's.

"which now even centrist Dems back" This isn't a new development. The House passed the ACA with the public option and it dies in the Senate due to Lieberman. That is an overwhelming majority of Dems 10 years ago.

Sounds great. Except much of what was said about MA is an exaggeration. Example: care organizations that have “sicker” people get more money to care for those people, so point #3 isn’t true. Makes me wonder about the rest of the content and what presenters are selling you.

The word "replacing" is the problem here. Most countries in the West have hybrid systems. Of course it would work here too. The absolutism of the US health care debate is one of it's major problems.

Agree. We old fogeys think if the start with single -payer rhetoric we can go from there. Problem is millions of jobs now depend on the Byzantine, bloated and disreputable biz of denying people and extorting people for health care...

Any recognition that this means direct confrontation with billionaires who own these businesses, to take their $$ & power away? & the lengths those owners will go to keep it? I mean, good! But there’s no avoiding that fight
