is anyone else now on week 7 of seeing Mark Penn's ridiculous "Hillary Will Run Again" op-ed consistently pop up as a paid ad from WSJ Opinion on Facebook?

  4. The LIBRE Initiative, a Koch network group focused on immigration reform, has been running ads for two weeks in support of a wall funding/DREAM Act deal. A quick search turns up almost zero news coverage of this. Clout of such groups not what it used to be.

One thing that new members of Congress should know is that the press is going to ask you questions — and we don’t want answers from flacks. Congress is the best covered institution in the world, and the reason for that is the access, conversations, and relationships we share.

Some context: Almost every significant possible 2020 Democratic candidate, including Gillibrand, has been reaching out to New York/Wall Street for months, though typically they've reserved explicitly talking 2020.

Lots of people have asked this, and yes: On day one, Pelosi’s House nuked this rule.

FUN FACT: Fully 820 miles of the nearly 2,000-mile US-Mexico border -- 41% -- is represented by a Republican, Rep. Will Hurd of Texas, who opposes a wall and was just reelected in a tough race in which he emphasized that position.

The questions I saw shouted at Tlaib (on video) were some variation of “do you stand by your remarks,” which are boring questions imo

The GOP House (2011-2019, RIP) actually added a new rule that required a supermajority vote for any tax increase, effectively making it impossible to raise taxes.

Donald Trump lost the popular vote in 2016, lost the House in 2018, and his big idea now is to double down on an unpopular policy by forcing an extended government shutdown. There's this belief out there that Trump's political instincts are gold. They're not.

A local Detroit station did a thoughtful fifteen minute interview with Tlaib following up on her comments. Unfortunately, the video is wrapped by a clicky “double down” story that entirely omits her rationale.
