I do know from heels there that generally while it was harder to have a good match, the preference was they'd rather work with Crusher because he got so much bigger reaction. Am sure you heard the same. Nick was the exception, because he could have classics with Robinson.

As I recall part of the issue was that Robinson did not get the reactions that other top AWA guys did. Also from watching old footage there was a big difference between his matches based on who he wrestled. Great vs Verne or Inoki or Bock. Ate up other dudes.

I don't know the story. Others might. But I do know Billy didn't like bodybuilders and football players in wrestling as a general rule

Dennis Hilgart (Milwaukee promoter) told Verne he could break the O'Connor-Rogers record with Verne vs. Crusher at the stadium but Crusher would have to win and Verne could win it back, and Verne wouldn't go for it.

You know, one guy who never seems to get mentioned as one of the best is Billy Robinson. As a kid, he was considered the master, but never got the rightful title run with Verne keeping it, they let him setting with tag team belts.I think it could have been a good run.

In his era, Robinson was highly thought of as far as his ability in the ring. I do agree that Robinson should have gotten the title when Verne was older but Verne never wanted to lose to a babyface.

None of his stuff is out there except one match when he was very old. He was from the 40s and 50s and believed you should pay to see him and had a policy of never workingon television.

Saint's style came from George Kidd, who Kent Walton said was the greatest wrestler he ever saw. When people complain about who should be in the Hall of Fame, Kidd is near the top of the list.

In terms of the best "pure" or technical wrestlers ever, I would have Danielson on the list with Bret Hart, Blue Panther, Volk Han, Kiyoshi Tamura, Tsuyoshi Kohsaka, Kazushi Sakuraba, Billy Robinson, Karl Gotch, Antonio Inoki, Jack Brisco, and Yoshiaki Fujiwara

As far as I know, it started in Mexico because the wrestlers made little money and it was like showing appreciation for a great match. I saw it at indie Lucha shows but rarely and it got much more prevalent in the U.S. I think due to Penta & Fenix touring everywhere.

Show on the 23rd will do massive numbers. If there is a giant angle, I'd save it for that show. You'd try to put on a good show Monday with knowledge that whatever the ratings are, there's nothing to be learned from them.

There are two sides to that story. His side says that Bruce violated the non-compete, but yes, he said he'd pay $1 million for the territory and paid $100,000 and stopped paying and told them they could reopen.
