What I like most about this is the expression that the very long term economic factors which fuelled Brexit... will absolutely not be resolved by Brexit And there will be huge political consequences as and when people realise that it will not help them

"The EU 27 says 'we're a club, these are our rules, you tell us how many you're prepared to accept and we'll tell you where you can go' That is not the British conception of what this is at all, they see it as a negotiation between two equal parties"

"The British Government is not interested in telling people, this thing that 52% of you said you wanted here are the range of options.. There's less good and then there's very very bad"

What is the context and source?

It's from
#InsideTheAmericanEmbassy on C4 last night -
The gent on the left hand side, and his long haired lady colleague are US trained diplomats. The chap on the right, looking frowny, is the US Ambassador.
-
Sorry, the chap on the right looking frowny was not the US Ambassador...he was head of US collective Airspace there to discuss UK airspace rights after Brexit. The Ambassador actually remarks very positively about the UK after Brexit and was bemused at our negativity. Remainer!
-
He is bemused by the negativity but he clearly doesn't know much about the detail of Brexit. But his look of disdain at Liam Fox & Gavin Williamson is priceless. Guessing you don't like experts much!
-
does anyone know much about details of brexit? the tory government (laughable) certainly have no clue.
-
They know it all, they also know that if they tell the truth, they're gone for good. I could live with them being just very stupid, but doing it knowingly is criminal
-
i get your point, but i think they are doing this on purpose imo

Seems odd to rely on the opinions of someone outside of your country to tell you what's best for your country...but I guess that the nature of the EU then right?
-
Not relying just agreeing.
-
They may be right...but don't trust fast talking Americans in suits. Advice from an American who talks at a medium pace and sometimes wears a suit.
-
Neither trust or not, just agreeing
