If it was “just” the Nazis then they might have a point. As for his dietary choices there is no telling if his diet might have caused his behavior or was a symptom of his illness.

The idea that ordinary German citizens would take up arms against the Nazis when the French and British didn't (Munich) seems far-fetched; the far better defense against tyranny is strong & independent institutions, and an informed populace.

All else being equal, I’ll take strong institutions plus a population that is both informed and armed over a population that is merely informed.
