  2. Reading ’s Atomic Habits and I think he accurately makes the distinction that your environment affects your habits (nachos can exercise) which can influence your state. But you always take your own weather with you.

A simple formula for writing hooks: "Get 3 yes's in 30 seconds". Readers should nod their head yes to the headline, subheading, and first sentence. If they've made it to the third sentence, they're ready for an interesting and compelling story. 💯

10/10 returns (all nighters are a prime example). In summary I think the argument is a bit of a false dichotomy, you need to do what works for you, maximize your strengths and recognize where you can employ leverage to exponentially increase output. Because results do matter.

9/10 commitments (children etc which = more time), meaning that they can quite often outwork more experienced competitors. Of course, this is additive at best: 1 additional hour of work will only produce n more units of output, and after a certain point one will see diminishing

8/10 work or periods of time suddenly unlocks a next step. Lacking these experiences etc, younger founders (or employees) are not powerless. In addition to potentially having a different way of looking at things, they tend to have more energy and less external

6/10 they’re likely to lack many of the other ingredients of success, such as deep networks and experience, which can take years, if not decades to be build. Although the world is rapidly changing and becoming more connected (making it easier to build, for example, networks of

5/ ahead, so I find the “only results matter” argument flawed. More importantly though, I think the discussion misses an important nuance: leverage. While a 20-something old founder (or employee) may well have something to add in terms of a differentiated vision or approach,

4/10 It’s trite to say that results matter, and that if you can achieve the results in half the time, that ought to be sufficient, but I think there is truth in ’s comments that if your equally competitors work 40 hour weeks, and you work 80, it’s probable you will get

3/10 rest (’s lion analogy sums this up perfectly). Beyond this though, the question of long hours and results is one not just for me and my fellow co-founders, but for our partners and employees in terms of the expectations we place on them.

2/10 in an industry which is traditionally predicated on 80+ hour weeks (finance) makes the question more relevant. Fundamentally, I’m not a great believer in work-life balance as a concept, as I tend believe it’s more about finding an sustaining a rhythm of sprints and

1/10 As a co-founder of a business, I’ve often asked myself the question of whether I should be striving for work / life balance. It’s worth nothing that the business isn’t in the tech space, which is where a lot of this conversation is occurring, but I think the fact that it
