    Devs need to own their tools. That doesn't mean everyone needs to reinvent the wheel, but to be able to find and fix that flat tire and decide against offroad tires when solely riding on paved streets.

    GraphQL optimizes for certain aspects of API developer experience over runtime experience. That's a fine trade off if you understand the effects. The "less round trips" argument is a red-herring, don't be fooled.
