Must read piece. We can’t just bring US back in the world without serious reflection on the state of democracy at home.

Important thread and reminder that even tougher days may be ahead, especially if we don’t take the domestic extremist threat seriously and make those responsible accountable, starting with Trump.

Even in the Civil War, the Confederate flag never got close the Capitol. More than 150 years later, the sight of a man casually carrying one outside the Senate floor was a piercing reminder of the persistence of white supremacism.

In several of our conversations over the past few years, Trump has said he considers social media -- Twitter & FB in particular -- to be his most powerful weapon. This will anger him more than perhaps anything that has happened during his presidency.

“Despite our efforts to serve the public conversation, as Trump’s megaphone, we helped fuel the deadly events of January 6th,” the employees wrote.

Very true, though most experts assess risk to be less about a deliberate U.S. attack on Iran than an escalation spiral toward conflict or more Israeli kinetic activity that might prompt an Iranian response that brings in US. This is still possible.

Shameful decision. As usual the Iranian people pay the price for destructive policies of leaders.

Is this enough to prevent his “wonderful supporters” from resuming violent efforts to prevent the peaceful transfer of power on Jan 20? Let’s hope so but track record to date is not encouraging.

More evidence that we’re talking about domestic terrorism here, and the threat isn’t over.

Bullhorns and animal skins were an amateur sideshow. Group two was the real deal.

Important point that taking Trump off major social media platforms can make a difference, making it harder for him to remain relevant after Jan. 20.

100%. Which is why cabinet level resignations are not meaningful now. Anything short of supporting 25th (even if fails) is enabling the continuing threat he poses to America.

Not sure it's wise to confuse things with Putin/Russia right now, even if all true. Trump did this on his own with enablers--all American. Republicans can join democrats and still hold him accountable.

Unfortunate. Resigning instead of actually trying to do something for the sake of the country.

Breaking: Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer is calling for Trump to be immediately removed from office. He says the 25th amendment should be invoked. "If the Vice President and the Cabinet refuse to stand up, Congress should reconvene to impeach the president."

I can't believe I'm reading this. Our European allies are taking Trump's threats seriously. Our elected officials need to do so as well, across the aisle.

This is urgent. For stability over next 13 days and to prevent Trump from access to privileged information after he leaves office. This imperative deserves bipartisan support.

Not sure these resignations should be getting attention. Too little, too late.
