If you pay $21,000 you can ~vote on emoji~. For the whole world. How cool is that. That’s pocket change to a lot of rich nerds. Do it. Become an Emoji Decider.

Over the years I've seen old pictures of the moving desks of the Central Social Institution of Prague, but I had no idea they were still in use.

A lot of people don't like data races (for valid reasons), but did you know that some data races can actually be good? Many data races are actually harmless and don't lead to UB or memory unsafety. You can even add them intentionally sometimes to get a big performance boost. /1

The tells you which elements have scroll overflows!! I've spent countless hours debugging why I'm seeing two scrollbars in the past, this is a life saver!

⏲️ As of today, we have about eighteen years to go until the Y2038 problem occurs. But the Y2038 problem will be giving us headaches long, long before 2038 arrives. I'd like to tell you a story about this.

Three years ago, I asked the military for all documents related to Pokemon Go players trespassing on Canadian Forces bases. I just got back 471 pages of internal communications. (It was worth the wait.)

I figured I'm tired of seeing const vs let vs var, so from now on I won't use any of those. I call it "functional programming"

Hadn’t hit me until this evening... The whole “how many hours” back-and-forth is almost 100% devoid of the concept of team, group problem solving, collaboration, etc. It is individuals. With their tasks. Their hours. Their energy. Vs. group energy, morale, potential, etc.

For a tale told primarily in pictures, see 's slide deck: "Making Programming masculine a gendered history of the computing professions" (the adverts are something special)

    The deadly female
What has sixteen legs, eight waggly tongues and costs you at least $40,000 a year?
