Version 3.4.6 of connector for and is out now. It does a better job of tracking the Couchbase DCP stream state, which should help prevent spurious rollback to zero on restart.

Oh and I forgot to mention we also released a Scala SDK 1.0! It builds on the same core foundation but provides a fully featured Scala API for people in the ecosystem.

And I'm very happy about the Java SDK 3.0: Java 8 baseline, faster, slimmer, out of the box support and overall a more consistent and future-proof experience. Have fun and build cool stuff with it!

Sometimes in 🦀 you will need more time⌚ 'til your code is complete Where in you're "done" When the code is still wrong (And on perf it'll never compete)

You aren't a Go, or Rust, or Java, or Python, or JavaScript developer (unless you are writing those languages). In reality you are a developer who uses language X to solve Y problems. You can learn new languages and paradigms. Don't get stuck in the I am an X developer.

"Rust actix maintainer uses a lot of unsafe code. His work is bad will. It's non-idiomatic Rust and shouldn't be used. It's cheating the benchmarks and it's dangerous." Meanwhile, Java Netty and .NET Kestrel maintainers:

Short Thread: staying with some friends and last night after everyone went to bed I could not figure out how to turn off the large ceiling light in their living room. There is a wall controller that seemed fairly straightforward.

SSDs are getting crazy performance. We so need async IO to overcome the syscall overhead.

Just cut rio 0.5! It's a pure-rust misuse-resistant io_uring library. io_uring will change everything about IO. The goldrush has started but folks don't realize it yet. lifetimes+RAII tricks ensure safety. go measure the o_direct example vs what you currently use :]

Alex – my colleague (and co-conspirator on both Dapper and Monarch at Google) – delivered an *excellent* talk about how to reason about performance in modern services. Hint: it's a lot more than just measuring p99. :) Highly recommended!
