In fairness, looking at the ages of people struck, I think the anxiety that seniors (and it is mostly seniors that I hear from) express about cyclists endangering their safety becomes a lot more understandable & their feeling of vulnerability with sidewalk cyclists more rational.

They are even more vulnerable to being struck in a motor vehicle collision. SUVs are particularly bad in this regard due to their relative height.

I understand, but from an advocate's perspective, I feel it's important to validate feelings born in good faith, establish a rapport & work from that basis to common ground. If you start from the basis that you're trying to win an argument, the conversation is going to go nowhere

I don't think it's fair to use the productivity of a government agency as a proxy for the effectiveness of a non-governmental advocate. Government is downstream from advocacy. In terms of public sentiment, there has absolutely been a shift for the positive since I became an ANC.
