i know i’m supposed to focus on the positive of this situation, but i hate this video. so many parallels to be made here for females who love sports.

My favourite part was the player banging the glass in frustration when the Dad clearly wasn’t getting it.
-
same!!!
-
SERIOUSLY. Dude was clearly pointing at the girl from the get go. I'm not sure if the adult was even aware or what they were thinking. Just pisses me off.
-
You are all funny, The dad was hella smart and did the right thing. He got all 3 of his kids a puck.
-
I'm not claiming it was the dad. Do we know it was the dad? Do we knows these kids were siblings? Not the point. Point was the player was pointing at HER and it took THREE ATTEMPTS to get to her while going thru another man. Her gift was given to other boys before her.
-
Hi guys! This is my daughter from last nights game! Just want to clarify, the “Dad” catching the pucks was not her father, & she is an only child. Need to say that since her dad was there but about 7 rows back as to not take up space for other kids & he’s an amazing father!

Leave it to Twitter to turn an adorable, heart warming thing into a battle of the sexes....I get it's frustrating the girl had to wait three attempts to get her puck, but holy shit. Let's keep SOMETHING positive. Can we just have this cute little video without politicizing it?
-
We, as women, are used to being put in this situation, being treated as second or even third to boys whose experiences are prized over ours. It's not a "cute little video," it's a player trying to give a puck to a little girl and both of them being disrespected.
-
We don't know the boys, girl or man involved. So we cannot assume their intent or what they were doing. For all we know, those kids could be siblings and the dad was doing it simply to ensure all his kids got a puck, rather than any kind of alleged sexism.
-
Even if that was the man's intent you can see Connolly intended to give the puck to the little girl. He points to her. Manipulating his good intent is, frankly, rude. There is no part of this video where the adult's behavior is alright.
-
See. THAT I can agree with. It was rude of the father to manipulate the player like that, and I can get why the player would be frustrated. I'm more annoyed that it had to be politicized into a sexism thing when we have no idea what the actual intent was.
-
Just try to empathize with us, here. This happens all the time to girls/women. We're not "politicizing" something when we want bad things to stop happening to us all the time. For you, you can brush it off. It's not happening to you. We can't ignore it being inflicted on us.
-
come from both sides of the argument. People who are causing these problems in the first place, and people who find something racist or sexist about everything that happens, regardless of intent, but do not care about context.
-
I respect your point of view but I also see that little girl's miserable face and know odds are she's going to have to endure that over, and over, and over again (unless it crushes her love for the sport entirely). When her misery is as clear as this it's as optimal a time as

This vid infuriates me. In a minute it summarizes everything wrong w sports. Girl has to wait until boys get their share b4 she gets hers. Just like youth/HS/collegiate/pro sports. That adult should be ashamed. If he's the parent of these 3 kids he should be doubly ashamed.
-
How is this “just like HS, Collegiate, or pro sports” at all? Wtf is the correlation??? I really wanna know
-
Seriously? This country literally had to pass laws before women's and girl's sports could even begin to receive the same level of funding & support as men's sports.http://thesportjournal.org/article/a-history-of-women-in-sport-prior-to-title-ix/ …
-
Look at how much revenue men’s sports bring in. Billions at even the collegiate level for just a single sport. Take a look at NBA vs WNBA earnings and that’s the reason men’s sports get funded more. It’s really not that hard. Chill with the White Knight shit

Harder competition
-
Lol. Here you have a male defending inequality that exists because women for the longest time weren't even allowed to play. And then when the males get defeated, they blame it on harder competition. Lol. Wow.
-
Still bring in less revenue despite their success, soooo...
