My youngest auntie passed away during lockdown. I went home for the funeral. During the service mam sat with my nana and refused to move away, I think she absolutely did the right thing in not allowing some petty bureaucrat to force my grandmother to break her heart in isolation.

I don’t blame the member of staff btw, he is following the rules and regulations that ensure he doesn’t lose his job and livelihood. I blame the cruel and heartless guidance that says they can comfort their mother sat side by side on public transport but not at a funeral.

Nobody should ever have to bury their dad like these lads and their mother had to. Distanced. Unable to reach across to their mother as she breaks her heart, yet they can sit next to her once they’re out. It’s a cold rule by an unthinking bureaucrat.pic.twitter.com/fg7STF9UmZ
