@daringfireball @gruber Don’t act like iTunes doesn’t do this on Windows.

@daringfireball @gruber @jsnell The real story behind Word 6. Poor management more than malicehttps://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/rick_schaut/2004/02/26/mac-word-6-0/ …

@realmrpippy @daringfireball @gruber That post says a lot about the Microsoft mindset at the time, and not all of it intentionally.

@daringfireball I'm happy others think Google oversteps their bounds. Good design means respecting the conventions of each platform.

@daringfireball The worst one is Google Maps. Try to navigate back to 'home', the UI is so confusing you can't do it w/o crashing the car.

@daringfireball What's interesting is that Apple allowed this to happen in their App Store. Couldn't they have stopped this?

@daringfireball Side note this is pretty jarring to see first thing when I open Apple Music on Android. #UXpic.twitter.com/xkMv3tRBzb

@daringfireball @gruber worth noting: Apple's Apple Music implementation for Android seems to follow Material very closely.

@bpmarkowitz @gruber It really does. And there is some beautiful UI work here– the reviews on Google Play don't seem to agree though.

@daringfireball @jsnell It’s a fair point, but honestly my bigger gripe with the Google iOS apps is they just work badly.

@daringfireball re: iTunes/Windows, historically all media apps were heavily skinned, including WMP. Matching OS was *against* convention

@daringfireball It was stupid, but it was normal. iTunes didn’t match OS X either until OS X changed to match iTunes. RIP: Brushed Metal

@daringfireball what drives me crazy is that swiping doesn’t work, have to click to go back.

@daringfireball Where does Adobe AIR UI style fit in here? They compromise every OS this way, no?
