I looked up fermented tofu and apparently one way the serve it is fried. And for durian one of the arugments was 'if someone likes durian why wouldn't they like it fried?'
But I'm going to add Surströmming to that list because the smell of it will haunt me for the rest of my life.

A Swedish co-worker brought it into work at my old job. We opened it outside but the smell still somehow made it back into the office and afterwards the chopping board was unsalvageable and went in the bin.
