Programmers are super lucky that there's a bunch of great IDEs that have base versions available for free. Artists are out there paying hundreds/thousands a year for the tools they use.

I get it’s complimentary, and there’s many and growing options. But in terms of making bank, if I could pick a skill set to have tomorrow it’d be coding. It’s magic to me, so if I *got* it, I’m sure I could use it as a restive tool, too and always have work that pays well.
Also in terms of industry-standard software, Adobe Cloud and Max/Maya are only available via expensive subscription services. Where as I can get Visual Studio on my personal PC for free with all the features I need.

Blender has improved bucketloads, or so I’m told, but yeah. Max is still the lion’s share imo
