Artists don’t believe in open source
Programmers are super lucky that there's a bunch of great IDEs that have base versions available for free. Artists are out there paying hundreds/thousands a year for the tools they use.

There are lots of tools out there for artists to make web pages and software w/out programming. Programmers don't yet have the tools to make good art w/out artists. So it's kind of a give and take.

I get it’s complimentary, and there’s many and growing options. But in terms of making bank, if I could pick a skill set to have tomorrow it’d be coding. It’s magic to me, so if I *got* it, I’m sure I could use it as a restive tool, too and always have work that pays well.

I suppose one of the reasons is that there are more programmers out there that can program their own tooling, than artists out there that can program their own tooling.
