That's a terrible idea. Blood supplies can struggle to keep up with demands during flu season as it is. With CORVID-19 it's already going to be worse without suspected infected people going to blood donation centers and exposing medical staff and healthy donors.

I think this advice is mainly for Americans, who have to pay thousands of dollars to get tested for covid19.
Tests should be free and accessible and I know in the US they're not. This could put at risk a medical service that countless people need to survive. We should be doing everything we can to protect the most vulnerable right now and this advice seems to do the opposite.
