What I've always brought is an Australian power board (with USB ports) and a US power adapter. The voltage difference you only really need to worry about for appliances (portable electronic devices are fine).

Yep, one exception is a Nintendo 3DS (all of them). I'm from the US and ended up buying a new charging cable for mine when I went to Australia.
