"They use Rewired for Input". Everyone who uses Unity has an external library for their controller input, it's basically the industry standard. Unity's input system is complete garbage.

Also, in my programming degree we were taught not to bother doing something from scratch if someone else has already put the time the time in to do it better than you have time to.

the point made there was that they used Rewired but failed to implement the Save-feature that's already there resulting in the game not saving the input-settings.

Just because a save system exists in a plugin doesn't mean it integrates with the save system your software uses out of the box.
