The material was hard to work with as I couldn’t sew on the leather side as it’s “sticky” and won’t move forward with the footer down

Oh yes! I will try it! the bottom grip also had some problem moving forward as it embeds into the material leaving marks

Ouch, yes, that's a tricky one. There must be a pro trick for it. Never used that fabric so can't suggest anything.
