The W3C IDL specs were a shitshow, using an RPC IDL for local specs. CORBA OBV ( value types, the right way ) was a shitshow!

OBV was added for SUN, IDL-to-C++ mapping killed interop as it influenced the IDL-to-Java mapping. Multiple inheritance killed OBV!

Then SUN killed CORBA with the Java Servlet specification! So, we all got sidetracked with SOAP to kill servlets! :)

It'll be another 20 years before the penny drops and we realise each tool has strengths, and correlate that to value!
