For those who believe that simplicity is the path to reliability: I bet I can take any code running in production and make it simpler by removing all of the error-handling logic. Would you bet that this would make it more reliable?

Error handling is part of correctness. But error recovery, like caching, is a sometimes food that frequently gets out of control. I’ve seen many production systems where removing error recovery would have made them simpler and more reliable.
