    When rich ghoul management types talk about not wanting inclusion to beat out "merit" please keep in mind it is well understood within the tech industry that our methods of judging "merit" are a total farce. Completely disconnected from positive outcomes of our labor.

    I sincerely hate how interviewing is a whole different skill from doing the actual job. Heartbreaking to see competent and qualified engineers being passed on bc of this 💔

    Or the decline we've watched over the past few weeks continues. Not much to do but wait and see. I'm hopeful she can hold on for a while yet. But Norma's expecting the decline to continue to heartbreaking levels. Which, to be fair, we haven't really seen evidence of leveling off.

    Pretty significant cognitive decline in the past 3 weeks or so. Which we already knew but it's nice to have a professional opinion. No real hope of improving. Best case scenario is maintaining current state.

    No more seizures since the 2nd nearly a month ago. But her behavior since then is consistent with dog dementia. She doesn't seem to be suffering or even uncomfortable. But she's mostly running on stimulus response these days. Most of her personality is gone.

    I've said this a few times before but working at remote first orgs saved my career. I was able to create the kind of office environment that accommodated my health needs best and had flexible hours for appointments, flare ups etc. As long as I have a choice, I'll stay remote.

    I love all the articles that are like “remote work shows that people are able to cut down on commute time, be more flexible with their schedules, and actually accommodate chronically ill/disabled people BUT CEOS HATE IT”
