    Anybody get one of these electical outlets with USB ports built in? Looks really handy.http://www.gottabemobile.com/2011/12/13/power2u-acusb-wall-outlet-review-2-usb-charging-ports-for-your-wall/ …

        @danwood — Can't trust USB outlets. Who says no one's siphoning your data as you charge?

        @simX Same could be said for *any* charger.

        @bbum — Huh? If you plug in a USB cord into a regular power socket, how is it possible that it's siphoning data?

        @simX As @danwood said, are you worried about public USB plugs or ones you install? Public? OK -- a bit paranoid, but I can understand why.

        @bbum @simX I guess that's the drawback to having power and data over the same cable. Product Idea: Adaptor that blocks data, allows power.

        @danwood @bbum @simX I actually made myself a device to guard against such things: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tin_foil_hat …

        @danwood Check your outlet box first to make sure that it’ll fit.

        @danwood We put in a bunch of Leviton USB tamper-resistant outlets and love ‘em: http://www.leviton.com/OA_HTML/SectionDisplay.jsp?section=53874&minisite=10251 …

        @ddribin how big are those? The ones I bought from OWC were too big for my outlet boxes.

        @nuthatch In which dimension? The Instruction Sheet just says “standard single gang electrical wall box”

        @ddribin the OWC were huge out back, no room for wires inside a metal outlet box! Levitron look shallower.

        @nuthatch This page has a link to a “Dimensional Drawing” at the bottom. Looks like 1.27in deep. http://www.leviton.com/OA_HTML/ProductDetail.jsp?partnumber=T5630-W&section=42298&minisite=10251 …

        @nuthatch @ddribin My U-Sockets were also quite large, so those are better if you don't want a plug. Saw them at Lowes this weekend.

        @McCarron @nuthatch Also, the Leviton’s outlet is tamper-resistant, which is really nice if you have little ones. ;-)

        @incanus77 @danwood You could also go with a wall surge protector/usb charger. No rewiring required. http://amzn.to/V9Ykmv
