Again: just imagine how many weird and wonderful Star Wars games we'd have played over the last 5 years if Disney opened up the IP to a variety of developershttps://twitter.com/jasonschreier/status/1085331820194004993 …

BREAKING: EA has canceled its open-world Star Wars game, three sources tell me. This is the one that EA Vancouver took over when Visceral shut down in October 2017. Not clear what EA Vancouver will do next - rumors suggest yet another Star Wars project... https://kotaku.com/ea-cancels-open-world-star-wars-game-1831786371 …

I'd like a Star Wars game where you're a First Order officer who has made a minor mistake and a furious Kylo Ren is looking for you, Amnesia style. Or a survival sim as Yoda when he first reaches Dagobah, Don't Starve style. Or a walking sim set on Alderaan just before.. you know

What's weird about this is I'd guess the three games of 2018 that were the biggest critical/ commercial successes were Spider-Man, God of War and Red Dead 2, all single player open world games. And EA cancels a *Star Wars* one?

Maybe that's exactly what happened. Maybe EA clocked the astonishing quality of those games and decided theirs wasn't measuring up? Open world SP games took a big leap forward last year. Who knows. Either way, EA reeeally needs to lose this exclusivity.

I want a game where you play as this bloke, and - without any kind of manual and through a very thin visor gap - you have to work out which of these many buttons to press in order to fire the death starpic.twitter.com/9ZP1WNSUwM

You've got light sabres, but they're not real and, like, there's music and stuff and you have to hit them at the right time. That would be well Skywalker. Call it Rhythm of the Knight or something.

Nah, after! A Spacewalking simulator, where you go through the debris field looking for anything familiar and there's nothing you can do, because it's all ruined anyway.
