    My friend and his family are still in Afghanistan. They remain in grave danger. It is my dream to one day sit on my back porch with my friend and watch our children play together in my back yard. I need your help to make that dream a reality.

    Vaccine mandates is an issue that unites Democrats and divides Republicans.

    Also agenda crowding — much better for Biden to have the news be “fighting about vaccines” than fighting about crime, asylum-seekers, or Afghanistan. It’s smart to pick fights on your good issues.

    The math is quite simple. Vaccinated Americans support these mandates and the majority of people are vaccinated. The polling is clear that the pro-mandate side is significantly more passionate than mandate opponents. Ignore the tweets, look at the polls

    My fav part is this data supporting that "civil war" headline: "Twitter's top U.S. trends last night had "" at No. 6 — with the NFL's season kickoff in the top four slots, followed by "Big Brother" on CBS at No. 5."

    I really don’t think it’s too much to ask of people to either 1.) get vaccinated, or 2.) get tested regularly to minimize the chances that they unknowingly spread the virus.

    This is an incredibly important point. So much of the political analysis of the Biden COVID speech is overreacting to some tweets from MAGA grifters and underreacting to troves of polling data

    Feels like maybe some people have taken the (correct) premise that a disproportionately energized base on the unpopular side of an issue can shift the political calculus in their favor, and missed that the anti-vaccine faction doesn't actually seem to have intensity advantage.

    Here's calling on Dems to lean in: "Americans are going to be living with the virus for a while. That sad fact is a direct result of GOP leadership and one Dems must hammer home in every way possible." As noted the demographics also matter:

    Dems must lean hard into condemning Republicans for impairing our Covid recovery. Among other reasons, this could energize educated and suburban voters who have shifted to Dems and turn out in midterms. I talked with about this. Fascinating:

    Today is another reminder of how disingenuous the liberal "norms" crowd was and is. Their concern about violating norms expires as soon as norms are destroyed in the name of outcomes that they like.
