The bigger health care news this week almost certainly is not Warren releasing her plan to pay for M4A. It is Sinema saying she won’t back filibuster reform, which makes Warren’s plan—and every other Democrats’ plan—exponentially harder. And yet, we’re not talking about Sinema

Dan, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but you’re right
-
And the key word is "reform." When it comes down to it, I think the only narrow way forward will be reform measure limiting but not eliminating the filibuster, possibly paired with
@jbview's Superbill! concept. Fearful Dems that still see urgent need for progress could sign on.

I say restore the fillibuster, reform it & eliminate stuff like anonymous holds. The fillibuster is supposed to protect the minority but has been abused over & over again the past few decades.

And preserving the filibuster for when Dems are back in the minority is a fallacy. Reps would nuke it at the first whiff of it stalling their agenda.
-
then why didn't they do it in 2017.

When president Warren wins Arizona, it will be much tougher for sinema to hold this line

At a minimum, I think people should have to ACTUALLY filibuster. Get up there and talk, continuously, on-topic, the entire time without recess.
-
From what I’ve heard it’s hard to craft rules requiring it, because if the majority goes home the remainder can just vote to suspend those rules.

Ummm, who in Obama's cabinet was blocked/not confirmed? Now compare with Trump's cabinet?
