The whole "pick your server" thing confused me at first, like if I'm on a different Mastodon server than someone else, how does that work? Well, it just does.

So turned out to be a really useful way to locate people you follow on Twitter who are now also on . I also learned a good tip is to put your full Mastodon account in your Twitter bio so Debirdify can figure out the matching better -- plus humans can, too.

People on email quickly learned plus systems adapted to get easier. You know someone's email address? Great, now you're on email with them even though they're on a different email server. Mastodon is like a big giant public email system. It works. It’s nice. It’s getting better.

Was explaining to my family how no one “owns" & even with different Mastodon servers, it all works. "But it's so confusing!" I said yes, right now it can be. So was email, at first. People on AOL didn't intuitively know how people on Prodigy would get their email…

AH! Edit: I can still edit tweets, but apparently you can't edit tweet replies. Which I thought you could. Like I'm really sure you could before. Maybe it's a bug.
