As the original author of preadv2 & RWF_NOWAIT. I'm glad that people are running with pattern with other IO interfaces. The worst kind of sync IO, is surprise sync IO.

But the reality is that we still have a long road ahead before async disk / file IO is great. This in Linux has been a source of frustration for my entire professional career.
