Who consistently writes good, unbiased, early to mid career advice?
I know @sehurlburt and @patio11 do this, but there must be people I'm missing?

you mean you want evenly distributed biases, instead of whatever the top links on hn are writing about
-
I mean people who don't financially benefit from the advice they give.
@patio11 works at Stripe and (probably) has Stripe options, but he's candid about how well FB/Google/Netflix pay. He also explains how to negotiate better, which doesn't boost the value of his options. - 2 more replies

There is definitely a huge "sell the kids a dream so we can keep getting cheap labor" bent from the VC crowd. You'd think these guys lived in a van down by the river with all the motivational platitudes they spout out.

It’s deeply immoral to tell people to quit their jobs or quit school. And there is only a certain class of person, unfortunately, who can drop everything and start a company. Bad advice, particularly when we need diverse founders more than ever.

They say that? Last startup I worked for took 3 months to get hired, I didn’t write any code. I fixed a leaky sink in the bathroom, bought an entire pallet of bottled water with my own money, fixed a handle on the towel dispenser, etc. I left after a month and a half.
