Even if you argue that the result would be "even more true" if they actually displayed images for 40ms, it still seems not great that they claim to have done so and are somewhat unlikely to have actually done so.
For sure, I'm just saying that kind of error is easier to correct for than systemic error; e.g. if computers displayed images of kittens for longer than those of car crashes
Especially with the large spread of display lag and gray-to-gray latencies - even more so on cheaper displays.
