Considering looking for work. Who should I talk to if I want to find a well managed team/org where people are happy? I have a moderate preference for NYC-area and it would be nice if the work is interesting and the pay is better than my previous pay, but those are secondary.

Is there a local dev I could chat with to find out what the job is actually like? The job descriptions seem to be written to convey as little useful little information as possible.pic.twitter.com/riasfgLx0f

Which position would that be? I could also answer your questions, I’m one of the devs that does interviews too.

It happens to be https://www.mckinsey.com/careers/search-jobs/jobs/software-engineer-new-ventures-technology-4001846002 …, although all the job descriptions basically sounds the same to me. My basic question is "what do devs actually do?" Bonus question is "To what extent do devs find their own problems vs. being told what problem or project to work on?"
