Yep, these were both people responding when asked to name a number, but I couldn't fit the preface into twitter's character limit 
.
Also didn't fit: companies said yes immediately, implying significant headroom.
Also: listen to @patio11, don't name a number unless [won't fit]

Yep. FWIW, two years ago offered $156k + generous equity & vacation at a publicly traded SF company, maybe not at senior level. I made them make the first offer.
