Is there an affordable analytics platform that tracks time on page? Google analytics claims to, but it actually tracks time to first click.

Don't underestimate how much GA does just getting events into storage semi-reliably. Good self-hosted is hard :-/

I agree, but I don’t need much reliability! :P The real-time stuff probably adds a fair amount of complexity that I don’t need either.

You can set up GA to ping an event at X seconds (10s, 60s, etc), which IME is a very reliable shortcut for estimating time on page.

I don't know what your situation is but you could try running piwik on sandstorm.io? It's free and might work well enough?
