I known people who've, at times in their lives, read > 500 pages a day, or 1 book every day or two. That's obv. not normal, but...
I find it very strange that there are people who find it unbelievable that anyone could read at 1/10th or 1/5th of that rate.
I'm not sure slow readers realize how much faster fast readers read. (Not in an insulting way! Just…they know how long it would take them…)
Are any of these comparisons normalized by what is read? I consume pop fiction at ~10x research articles, and those faster than history.

Kids and a commute. I've read three full books so far this year ><. It's frustrating, but HN junk food is so much easier.

I definitely cycle. Periods of intense reading at a similar rate interspersed with dry spells.
