I known people who've, at times in their lives, read > 500 pages a day, or 1 book every day or two. That's obv. not normal, but...

I find it very strange that there are people who find it unbelievable that anyone could read at 1/10th or 1/5th of that rate.

the power of habits! 5k pgs/quarter =~ 50 pgs/day, which is 0.5-1.5hrs/day. 5k pgs/quarter seems amazing only to those without the habit.

People don't realize there's big diversity in reading speed. Stephen King reads ~80 books/yr IIRC and he considers himself "slow".
