Fogus also got static for saying he read > 1 book per week. What is going on? I literally don't understand why that would seem impossible.

I known people who've, at times in their lives, read > 500 pages a day, or 1 book every day or two. That's obv. not normal, but...

I find it very strange that there are people who find it unbelievable that anyone could read at 1/10th or 1/5th of that rate.

One frontpage article I clicked is ~800 words, or 2-3 pages. Assuming that's normal, 5k pages/3 mo ~ 10 hn articles/day

the power of habits! 5k pgs/quarter =~ 50 pgs/day, which is 0.5-1.5hrs/day. 5k pgs/quarter seems amazing only to those without the habit.

People don't realize there's big diversity in reading speed. Stephen King reads ~80 books/yr IIRC and he considers himself "slow".

I read about 2500 pages in the same time and I try to read more, 5K would be a stretch for me but not impossible.
