I like to inflate vendor errors by an order of magnitude when making decisions.
The AFR numbers look 
. They seem 0.5 to 1.5 orders of magnitude lower than observed rates. I don't know BER rates off the top of my head.

If it's important, use ZFS. Two drive vdevs, mirrored. Disk is cheap, it's not worth wasting the time tracking down bitrot.
